The Greatest Love Ever!

Uncategorized

Imagine, the tender heart of the Savior, reaching into the lives of so many, as He walked this Earth! His hands reaching out and touching the untouchables – lepers! Just the thought of it, “Jesus wept,” as His heart went out to those who were had lost their loved one! (John 11:35) Think of all those whom He healed, fed, and showed compassion toward! And yet, this One – the sinless One, they took and nailed His hands and feet to a cross as a criminal! Yes, and He has compassion on you too, for He died on that cruel cross for you! Imagine such love! Yet, what does it all mean? What does it mean for you?

Revival

Christian Life

Do we as Christians truly want revival to come? Do we truly understand the desperate need for revival in the church? Heed carefully then these words, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14) In like kind, James 4:9-10 says, “Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.”

Is this message what the church wants to hear today? No, it likely is not. However, it is a most needful message! Let us be reminded of the account given in King Josiah’s day, “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction.” (Romans 15:4) So then, at that time the temple had been neglected and the Word of God, the Law, forgotten. Now when King Josiah came to power, he wanted the temple restored. Therefore, while all this was going on, we read, “Then Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the secretary, ‘I have found the Book of the Law in the house of the LORD’…And Shaphan read from it before the king. And when the king heard the words of the Law, he tore his clothes. And the king commanded… ‘Go, inquire of the LORD for me and for those who are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that has been found. For great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out on us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do according to all that is written in this book.” (2 Chronicles 34:15, 18-21)

Stone Throwers

Uncategorized

The religious crowd can be so ruthless! Remember the woman caught in adultery? Here the religious mob had dragged her before Christ. In their mind, they had caught a sinner, a sinner who deserved to die for her sin! Now, it is not that they were wrong, but the hypocrisy in it all is that they were sinners too! They also deserved to die for their sins! When Jesus exposed them for their hypocrisy, they departed one by one, from the youngest to the oldest!

Yes, today we still have religious people who are all too eager to “throw stones.” Yet, all the while living in sin themselves! Oh, how many haven’t suffered at the hands of the religious ones! Perhaps, you also have been the victim of their hard-heartedness?

Yet, we see that Jesus didn’t come to “throw stones,” that is “to condemn,” but rather that the people may be “saved”! In fact, Jesus allowed them to “throw stones” at Him in order to save us from our sins – from their consequences! Yes, Jesus died on the cross, having been handed over by the religious leaders! It was these that incited the crowds to call for his crucifixion! Yes, indeed, religion stands against the gospel of grace! Remarkably, religion stands for “self-righteousness”! It has an air of, “I am holier than thou”! On the hand, the grace of God reaches down to where we haven been cast down in the ditch, and unlike the religious ones, stops and has compassion on the one cast down and left half dead!

Living Sacrifice

Christian Life

Have you considered, my brothers and sisters in Christ, after all God has done for you, will you now live out the remainder of your life in selfish pursuits? Have you ever pondered whether God is calling you to give yourself up for His cause? Have you thought about these words? “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10) Are we still determining what we want to do with our lives, and then seeking God’s blessing on it? Have you reflected on this verse that says God has plans for you that He prepared in advance for you to walk in? Perhaps it is time to stop looking out for “#1”! That is, looking out for our own comforts and begin to serve others in whatever capacity God is calling us to! Listen to these words in light of all that God has already done for us, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers [and sisters], by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” (Romans 12:1)

Being Judgemental

Uncategorized

Are we as Christians to make judgements? Is it okay to voice disapproval? So often today we hear the refrain, “Don’t be judgemental!” This, when we express ourselves in a way that does not agree with the person we’re in discussion with. So, just where do we draw the line? Is it okay to make our disapproval known when a student makes a mistake in their work? What if a person has a lifestyle of being a thief? Are we free to verbalize our objection, or are we being judgemental if we do? What about our beliefs? Do we have liberty to disagree with others, or must we keep our opinions and beliefs to ourselves? Are we to be silent, or is it okay to speak up and say something when we believe someone is out of line? Is it fine to speak with conviction? What does the Bible have to say as to this subject at hand? Let’s take a look!

Saved from What?

Uncategorized

So often we hear people say, “You need to get saved!” Yet, for many, it is puzzling as to what we are to be saved from! And when explained, it seems that the answer falls far short of satisfactory! For it seems that all that is said is that, we need to be saved from Hell! Now, this may be true, but is this really all? Also, we find a lack of explanation as for why we are in danger of Hell! Let us then attempt to undertake what we need to be saved from, and the necessity to be saved!
