Meet You in Heaven?
Where will you be in 90 years from now? If we think about it, we have approximately 7.6 billion people on planet Earth right now, and in 90 years or so, none of these people will live here any longer! Life is so short! Even if we live to be 120, what is that compared to the billions of years that follow our little existence down here?! Question is, are we prepared to step into eternity? Where will we exist for eternity? Is it really worth it to live as one pleases on Earth now, only to pay for it throughout eternity? Would it not seem wise to make absolutely certain that we are prepared for what lies beyond our few days here below? Would it not seem astute to thoroughly research what, if anything, is the reality beyond our life on this planet? Then, if necessary, to make 100% sure that things will turn out for the best possible outcome for us? It sure would to me!
An Amazing God!
All around us, we observe that which is orderly. In fact, we now know that there is no such thing as a “simple cell.” Much rather, we are seeing more and more, just how “loaded” even the simplest of cells is! Yes, and even when the telescopes are pointed into the bleakest, darkest regions of the sky, we are overwhelmed by the magnitude and grandeur of what is discovered! Yes, the more we learn, the more in awe we are of how intricate it all is! The more we observe, the greater ought to be our realization that there must of necessity be an intelligent designer!
Is it not true, that evolution tells us that we are more like a cold, indifferent, calculated “bunch of cells”? That we all just randomly came together for no purpose? That we in reality are just a mere “accident”? No wonder depression has grown to epidemic status! For evolution leaves us in a meaningless state! For, if this be the case, why should I care if this planet’s species go extinct? Why care if pollution ruins the Earth? Why care if humans go extinct in the future due to our recklessness now? Take it a step further, why care if other people are suffering? Is it not true, that evolution only cares about self? Does it say that only the fittest carry on by saying, “Who cares about the weak! Let them die!”? For is it not evolution’s slogan, “Only the fittest survive”? In fact, evolution cannot function outside the realm of death! For it is a cruel system of experimentation. When something is a “fail” in evolution, involving a “hit and miss,” “trial and error” methodology, then that living thing dies, and it moves along to attempt a different avenue! It dumps the weak and puts the strong on a pedestal!
Yet, how very different God is! He created, in six literal days, a creation that He called, “Very good.” (Genesis 1:31) Today, many want to challenge the literal six days of the creation account, and it seems, with most everything else having to do with God and the Holy Bible! In fact, it seems that evolutionists are more interested in explaining God away than anything else! Now, if you think evolution is scientific and not at all religious, then I challenge you to do some research from the other side of this “court-case”! Why not check out thoroughly what the creationist scientists have to say? For if they’re wrong, there should be no reason to fear in checking them out! Yes, we should at the very least do our research and find out for ourselves! Here are a few excellent sites to start you off: https://creation.com/ , http://www.icr.org/ , and https://answersingenesis.org/ .
Encouragingly, we find that the God of the Bible created everything with a purpose. For we read, “God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.” (1 Timothy 6:17) Again, “‘What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him’ – these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 2:9-10) Then also, “But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and earth in which righteousness dwells.” (2 Peter 3:13) We also find that God loves us! As we read, “For God so loved the world…” (John 3:16) Yes, God desires us to have a permanent relationship with Himself! One that will be filled with rest, joy, and peace for all eternity! Yes, God created you on purpose! You are not an accident that happened by mere chance!
Heaven for Sure
Yes, it is this all-powerful God before whom we will have to give an account of our life! He is perfectly holy, and we all know we are not, right? Indeed, because we are sinners, we have been separated from our holy God! So, how ever shall our relationship be put right? How can I get rid of that which I don’t want, my sin-debt? Then, secondly, how can I gain a righteousness that is equal to that of God’s, in order for me to gain Heaven? Seem impossible? With us it is!
How wonderful to know that God has the solution for us to place us back into a right relationship with Himself! For it ought to be clear that we cannot by our obedience or faithfulness gain eternal life. Why? Because none of us are perfect! Therefore, God has done what no person could have, in that Christ Jesus came to Earth as a human so that He could take the punishment that was due each one of us! There on the dreadful cross, some 2000 years ago, the penalty for our life time of sin – was paid in full! Yes indeed, the good news rings forth, “The gospel…that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised the on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) For those who place their confidence in the Savior to save them by what He has done on our behalf, has right now – eternal life!
You see, Jesus didn’t come to save good people, but the “ungodly.” As we read, “And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness.” (Romans 4:5) Yes, when we believe the gospel for ourselves, we receive the very righteousness of Jesus Christ Himself! Indeed, of this righteousness it is written, “The free gift of righteousness”! (Romans 5:17) Therefore, to those who place their confidence in Christ alone to save them, we read these words of comfort, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1) With a certainty, there is nothing “iffy” about one’s salvation. For we read, “In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.” (Ephesians 1:13-14) No, it is not at all prideful to say that, “I know I am saved!” Why? Because we are resting in the finished work of Jesus Christ on our behalf! It is not confidence falsely placed in self, but in the Crucified and Risen One! Much rather, it would be prideful to say that we can’t know until that Day! Why? That would mean that we are placing confidence in self to keep oneself saved by our own efforts of obedience! Truth is, we can know we have eternal life, and the Word of God tells us so plainly! For we read, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.” (1 John 5:13)
What About You?
No, simply hearing the “good news,” won’t save you! You must personally place your confidence solely in the Savior to save you! Do you believe that Jesus was punished for your sins, in your place? Are you counting on the righteousness of Christ instead of your own righteousness? If you still think that being baptized, or keeping the ten commandments, or trying to be a good person, being a “Jesus follower,” or inviting Jesus into your heart will save you – then you are sadly mistaken! For one must believe the gospel message in order to be saved. Once again, “The gospel…that Christ died for our sins [yours too!] in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) Then follows that splendid promise of God! “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved”! (Romans 10:13) Yes, we are strictly saved by God’s grace alone! There simply is no other way for us “ungodly,” helpless sinners to be saved! Therefore, God reached out in love through His uniquely born Son to save you and I! What a Savior! Will you place your confidence in Him just now, and know that you have eternal life? Yes, “Everyone,” that is right, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved,” and that includes you, if you call upon the Savior to save you! I hope you been saved today, that one day we may spend eternity together around the glorious throne of the Worthy One, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
