The Ten Commandments; Why We Got it All Wrong!

Christian LifeThe Gospel

I ask, have you ever wondered why God gave these 10 rules? What was God’s purpose in giving these commandments? Did God really think that we could obey them?! Perhaps God just intended them as a betterment to society in general? Then again, maybe Go673266421_9bf0032284_zd was bringing down His angry fist, and saying, “You better stop sinning and do what is good, or else I will bring down my rod on you in fierce anger!”

Well, I’m afraid that many well-meaning, and maybe some not-so-well-meaning folk, have made a monumental error in applying these 10 rules! We must get to the bottom of the real reason for the giving of these commandments!

All I Wanted Was Some Toast; Jesus Lives In Me

Christian LifeFor Children

Rich in Jesus

a big problem!

My eyes were still closed as the sun’s rays began to peak through my window. Then suddenly, the thought struck my yet sleepy mind – mom made strawberry jam last night! Just like that, I was wide awake! I stuck my toes in my fluffy bunny slippers and dashed down the stairs to get out a deep red jar of freshly made jam! Oh, how good this was going to be on my toast!4847603404_b2ae6e1850_z

I slipped two slices of bread out from the bag and eagerly placed them in the toaster! Then I pushed down the lever and waited. I put my plate on the table, a knife, and a glass of milk. After a few minutes I went to check on my toast – it was still white. I waited some more and still it was white. I waited a really, really long time, and still it was white! What was wrong?! I thought, surely the toaster must be broken. For the bread ought to be nice and brown by now! Oh, I wanted my toast so bad with mom’s fresh strawberry jam! I could just about taste its sweetness on my eager little tongue! But, it mattered not how long I waited – nothing happened. No, nothing at all!

My Personal Testimony

My Testimony

How I Got Saved

My Background

I grew up in a religious home where it was normal to go to Sunday School and church. It was normal to see people praying and reading their Bible. The people in my family, were what most people would refer to as “good.” They didn’t drink alcohol, go to bars, smoke, swear, and so on.

The cultuVicre I grew up in was an Evangelical Mennonite culture. I know Mennonites are very different from one group to another! The group I belonged to did not live on a colony or practice a particular dress-code. In fact, we were relatively modern in our way of life!

As to myself personally, I adhered to the religious beliefs I grew up with. I regularly attended Sunday School and church. I was consistent in reading my Bible and praying. Every night before going to bed, I would confess all my sins to God, asking Him to forgive me of my sins. I was even baptised at the age of 15. I also tried to the best of my abilities to be good, as I was taught. You could say, I was very religious!

The Gospel

Eternity – when is the last time you took the time to stop and think about it? I know people don’t want to think about death, but it is inevitable. Are you ready to face God to whom you are accountable? I want to stop you and ask a very important question. If you were to stand before God this very minute, and He asked you, “Why should I let you into my Heaven?”, how would you respond? Now stop before reading on, and really give it some thought.

A Father’s Love

Set in 1739, a large wooden ship, with sails bellowing in the icy wind, battles against the raging sea, having its sights set on the hope of finding new land! Aboard is a crew of 8 men, all veterans of the sea. This time however they are making a dangerous voyage across the ocean in unfamiliar seas, hoping against odds that they’ll discover new land!

Days grow into weeks, and weeks into months, as the weary men carry on their mission, sanctioned by the king himself! Supplies beginning to grow scarce; each man is given a daily ration of food. However, each man is careful not to get into any skirmish, as they need to work as a team if they are to succeed. The floors have to be scrubbed, the sails kept in good shape. Every man has his assigned task.

A year and nine days have gone by, and still no sight of land. The captain calls over his lead men and says, “We must break into the emergency stock; we have no food left. At least that should give us another month, but we must find land soon!”
