Meeting Requirements for Heaven

The Gospel

Have you ticked all the boxes to make sure you’ll be in Heaven, that God requires of you? We know that if you wanted to be a pilot, for example, that it is a long arduous ordeal to get to be an airline pilot! There is the ground training. Followed by hands on learning. Then you have a long process of different ratings to meet. One must have so and so many hours of flight time. Then too, one must meet certain health tests. One must never be under the influence of alcohol, and so on. This is what we as people have come to expect when one wants a certain career! Now, if God, the most supreme being of all; the one who is perfect in every way, is putting out an invitation to come to His holy Heaven…well, the requirements must have to be the most staggering one has ever beheld! Shall we take a look?

The Able Shepherd

Eternal SecurityThe Gospel

Not all of us have had the opportunity to watch how a shepherd watches over their sheep. Think of it, though. Whose job is it to keep the sheep safe? Is it up to the sheep to steer clear of crags, thorn bushes, fierce animals, to find green pastures, and quiet waters to drink from, or is it up to the shepherd? Well, it is the shepherd who is responsible to watch over the sheep. It is the shepherd that is to care for them and provide what is needed. Let us then think about another, the greatest Shepherd. A Shepherd who watches over His own sheep.

The Brazen Serpent

The Gospel

Imagine being in a desert wasteland. There is no cell-phone service. No hospitals. There is no way whatever to find help in a crisis! Then suddenly, you and your fellow companions begin to be bitten by poisonous snakes! In fact, some of your comrades are falling down dead! The situ2356033988_d146b61be4_zation is most dire! For surely you will all die! Now, this is no fictitious scenario, but a very real historical record that is found in the pages of God’s holy Word! The account is relatively brief, but is also again mentioned together with the most well known verse in the Bible, John 3:16.

We read the account like this: “From Mount Hor they set out by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. And the people became impatient on the way. And the people spoke against God and against Moses, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this worthless food.” Then the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died. And the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD and against you. Pray to the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. And the LORD said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.” So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.” (Numbers 21:4-9)

So, how could this account possibly relate to us? Well, let’s find out!

Dark Side of Morality

Christian LifeThe Gospel

Good, is a good thing, right? Wouldn’t it be a good idea to encourage everyone t268022096_e52a1c90e6_oo be good? I mean, don’t we all want to live in a society where people have good morals? For I don’t think too many of us want our neighborhoods filled with violence and crime, do we? We find today, that we live in a world where philanthropy is heavily promoted as a good thing. Therefore, those that are philanthropic are seen as good people; that we need more people like them! We find also that many religious people are also propagating morality. As well as parents who are telling their children to, “be good!” We find all kinds of children’s videos and books that are filled with the teachings of morality! How, then, could there be a problem with this? Yet, there most certainly is! Let us explore the dark side of morality…

Does Good Outweigh Bad?

The Gospel

How good is good enough?

That my good can make up for my bad, is a belief commonly held throughout our planet. Yet, how much good do you think you would have to do to offset the bad you’ve done? How much bad would you have to have done to be considered too bad to have any hope? Is there in fact any biblical ground for one being too bad a sinner to be forgiven? Also, is there any truth to the idea that one can be good enough to be accepted into Heaven?2941655917_cd7626cff3_z

What about in our society? For example, someone commits a heinous crime. It goes to court, but the court just says, “Don’t do it again,” and sets the crook free. What does the populace say to such? It says, “We want justice!” How then do we think God will judge us?

How about a beverage you might consume? Let’s say you’re having a bottle of water. How much poison would one have to add, before you would say, “I’m not drinking that!”

Let us now open up our Bibles and see what God has to say on this all important matter…

Hell is Taboo; A Mythical or Factual Place?

The Gospel

Why is that no one seems to mention Hell these days, other than as a swear word that is! Why is it such a taboo subject? Why i4739716257_2d6ca05280_zs it so offensive to so many? Quite frankly, if it truly exists, I want to know! If there is any chance whatever of me ending up in such a place, I want to know how to escape it! But then, maybe it’s not such a bad place after all. Perhaps it is, as some say, “A place to party!” Yet, as always, we must see what our Creator-God has to say in His Holy Word – the Bible.
