The False Prosperity Gospel

Uncategorized

We all need hope. When hope slips away, we crumble. Yet, is the “prosperity gospel” giving us real hope, or just a mirage that can never quench one’s thirst? We have here a movement born out of the “New Thought Movement,” begun in the 19th century. Let us examine this worldwide popular movement of “the prosperity gospel.”

They Didn’t Want Me

Christmas

It is the time of year were many are in a festive mood celebrating Christmas! Yet, I want us to stop and think about a certain someone. I begin by asking, ever been rejected by someone? I’m sure we all have. Not a nice feeling is it? Yet, there is somebody in specific I want to mention. Somebody who has, and still, receives a lot of undeserved hate! Someone who has faced a lot of rejection, and yet receives all who come!

The World’s Problems Solution

The Gospel

Arguing. Fights. Drugs. Gangs. Rape. Hate. Deception. Lies. Porn. Corruption. Murder. Torture. Wars. Theft. Disease. Disasters. Accidents. Famine. Earthquakes. Death. Yes, this world is filled with problems! Our own lives have problems too. Yet, why is it so, and what, if any, solution is there?

Am I to Follow Jesus?

The Gospel

One of the modern cliches to say these days among the churches is, “Jesus follower.” So what is meant by this? Where does it come from? And, is the thinking behind this sound? We know that the serpent, Satan, is said to be “crafty.” So, then, let us open the pages of God’s holy Word, and see what our Creator has to say as to these things, as we always ought to be Bereans! Let us not be deceived in anything!

Why is Jesus Called Savior?

The Gospel

Very simply, a saviour is someone who saves others! A lifeguard, firefighter, doctor, and police officer, could all be called saviours! However, when we turn over to what God says, it becomes readily clear that we need a saviour of an altogether different calibre!

For those of us who are honest, we’ll admit that we are sinners, cut off from God because of our sinfulness. Quite plainly, we need a saviour, someone to rescue us! Yes – hell bound, but who will save us that we may become citizens of Heaven? Which/whom of these will be your  saviour?

I ask, which of these does the Bible call our Saviour?

Just Knowledge – or Know Jesus?

The Gospel

How sad it would be, for people to be lost for eternity, when having gained the “knowledge” about the way of salvation and yet, to have never come to “know” the Saviour. Yes, we can have perfect “knowledge” about a remedy for our illness, and even understand that it would heal us, and yet, never be healed because we have never taken the remedy ourselves! We may have seen others healed and yet never ourselves been healed, even though we have full knowledge of the remedy. For this one, there remains nothing but certain death. So then, let us not pass up the opportunity, the open door, right before us! In a moment from now, we may be in eternity, and the opportunity forever over! Oh, let it not be! Jesus beckons us, “Come to me…” Will you? (Matthew 11:28)

Astonishing Miracle!

Christian LifeThe Gospel

To think that sinners can become guiltless! In fact, believers are spoken of as: “Without spot or wrinkle,” “holy and without blemish,” and presented in “splendor”! (Ephesians 5:27) Yes, as it is written, “Our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ”! Facing the Battle

Christian Life

In the Word of G2671689242_7fca56f1f2_ood, many dramatic battles unfold. However, the most well-known of battles, surely must be, David and Goliath! I want to take a moment and paint for us three tremendously different perspectives, with three entirely different outcomes! No question, in life, particularly the Christian life, there are trials of various kinds, some monumental! Yet, how do we react when we’re thrown into the battle? Let us march off to the battle lines and see, shall we?!

I like the account of the disciples who were caught in the storm-tossed sea! For it paints a wonderful picture of our Lord. We read, “One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, Let us go to the other side of the lake. So they set out, and as they sailed he fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger. And they went and woke him, saying, Master, Master, we are perishing! And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm. He said to them, Where is your faith? And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, Who then is this, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?” (Luke 8:22-25)

Let us then examine what message it has for you and I!

Cleansed Hearts

Christian LifeThe Gospel

I wonder, is your heart 4266283238_401d102b93_opure? Have you been freed from the controlling power of sin in your life? Or are you still plagued by sin’s vice like grip on your life? Are you held captive by sinful things in your life? Things like watching movies filled with violence, sexual immorality, and vengeance? Are sinful habits still master over you? Do you ever feel like, “This just isn’t working”? Perhaps you’ve thought the answer is trying harder to be a good person. Yet, as hard as you try, you just seem to flounder and fail the more! There is an answer for this! There is hope indeed! For God says He, “Cleansed their hearts by faith.” (Acts 15:9)
