Saved from What?

The Gospel

So often we hear people say, “You need to get saved!” Yet, for many, it is puzzling as to what we are to be saved from! And when explained, it seems that the answer falls far short of satisfactory! For it seems that all that is said is that, we need to be saved from Hell! Now, this may be true, but is this really all? Also, we find a lack of explanation as for why we are in danger of Hell! Let us then attempt to undertake what we need to be saved from, and the necessity to be saved!

Invite Jesus Into Your Heart?

The Gospel

Ask many a professing Christian how they got saved, and you frequently hear these words, “When I was a young child I invited Jesus into my heart!” In fact, so did I! Yet, is this the correct way to be saved? Are there any potential problems with this methodology? It is with such things as this, that we ought to take extreme care! Why? Free For You!

The Gospel

It cost God His only begotten Son to purchase salvation for you! Will you receive this free gift from God, to you?

We all know that we’re not perfect. We all know deep down that we are not perfectly holy as God is. We all fail in some way. How much better off we would be to just let go of all the tension inside and admit to God that, “I fail. I can’t live up to your perfect standard of holiness, God. Please save me!” And then believe that He does just that!

For all our – your – sin was heaped upon the Saviour, as He hung upon the dreadful cross. For, “The LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:6) For God is holy, and therefore must punish sin. Otherwise He would not be just. Yet, seeing Christ took the punishment, God is, “Just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” (Romans 3:26)

Meeting Requirements for Heaven

The Gospel

Have you ticked all the boxes to make sure you’ll be in Heaven, that God requires of you? We know that if you wanted to be a pilot, for example, that it is a long arduous ordeal to get to be an airline pilot! There is the ground training. Followed by hands on learning. Then you have a long process of different ratings to meet. One must have so and so many hours of flight time. Then too, one must meet certain health tests. One must never be under the influence of alcohol, and so on. This is what we as people have come to expect when one wants a certain career! Now, if God, the most supreme being of all; the one who is perfect in every way, is putting out an invitation to come to His holy Heaven…well, the requirements must have to be the most staggering one has ever beheld! Shall we take a look?

The Biggest Miracle?

The Gospel

Let us get this picture clear in our minds. Imagine being a farmer. Not just this, but envision the whole Earth as a field. Still further, visualize that you can see the entire Earth at once. As you scan its vastness, you realize all you can see, is an unending sea of weeds. Weeds!? Now, this is not what any farmer wants to see! Do you not think that any and every farmer would put a match to the whole lot and let it all burn in a massive inferno? Surely! Yet, we will witness someone who has a very different approach. Of course, I’m talking about humanity here…

Search Light

The Gospel

You’re hiding in the dark. They are looking for you. Then, suddenly, someone turns on a spotlight, and the darkness is illuminated like a sunbeam! Terror grips you, as you realize that you’ve been exposed! No longer are you able to hide among the trees! So it was with Adam & Eve. They had sinned. They knew they had done wrong and felt guilty. Yet, they hoped they could cover-up the crime and hide from the One to whom they were accountable! Then God turned on the search light! All their feeble attempts, all their conniving and planning, came to not!

Swimmer one gets changed into their beach wear and looks out over the pristine waters. Swimmer two, gets dressed into their custom swimming gear and begins to focus and go through the motions before entering the water. Then, both dive in. After a mile or so out to sea, the waves become rougher. Things are getting tougher! A couple more miles, and swimmer one is becoming very exhausted. Swimmer two, is still confident and going strong!

How to Stop Being a Slave to Sin

Christian LifeThe Gospel

“For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.” (Romans 7:19) Does this sound familiar in your life? I remember being there too! You see, many of us, even from very different backgrounds and worldviews, will agree 6815678009_444a2fa91e_bthat sin is our problem. However, where we disagree is in the “how” of dealing with it. Is the concept of, “Be as good as you can, and that’s good enough,” correct? Perhaps as long as, “My good is greater than my bad”? Then again, maybe if I ask God to forgive me each time I sin, I can avert the consequences of sin. Yet, perhaps, if I turn from all my sin, then God will accept me?! There are many concepts that are believed and taught in various circles. However, I trust that we all want to know the truth, even if it could mean departing from our preconceived ideas and teachings we’ve become familiar with. So let us think these things through together…
